Open Water Swim – Flowers Sea Swim

The Flowers Sea Swim is the most fun Open Water Swim event we have ever been a part of. Every June in the Grand Cayman Islands for the past 22 years Frank Flowers has hosted a whole week of activities surrounded by the 1 mile Swim and 5 and 10K Swims. There are prizes for everyone with serious cash prizes for the top finishers.

In almost every other sport but swimming, we get the luxury of breathing whenever we want. Typically, with maximal exertion, that means we are inhaling at a respiratory rate of between 50 and 65 times per minute. Not so in swimming.

Orange Bowl Swim Classic

Highlights from the 2012 Orange Bowl Swim Classic at Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo, Florida. There are many teams that train in the Florida Keys over the holidays and they all come together to compete at this meet. Florida International University and University of Michigan were this year’s respective Women’s and Men’s winner.
